The United States will support an Arab-backed resolution to be put to the United Nations Security Council Tuesday condemning the Syrian regime. Ten Security Council members have reportedly backed the measure, though China and Russia have not.

EUROPEAN UNION: Eurozone leaders sign deal to limit overspending

Every country in the European Union, except for Britain and the Czech Republic, signed a treaty Monday designed to stem overspending in the eurozone. Britain had already stated in December that it would not sign the deal.

FRANCE: France halves 2012 growth forecast to 0.5%

On October 4th 2010, the wall of the waste reservoir of the MAL aluminium plant in western Hungary gave way.
